About Katy

A safe pair of hands

Katy Swift is a storyteller and folklorist based in the Scottish Borders, using stories as medicine to slow us down in our busy, modern world. She's also a keen forager, gardener, folk herbalist, socially engaged artist and resilient community builder. You'll find her deepening her relationship with plants and nature any way she can, from making botanical paints and plant dyes to creating fibre from nettles to weave.

Before becoming a mother of two boys, Katy was a foster carer trained in child development. Her background is in Waldorf education and social therapy, and she has completed trainings in both Emerson College and at the Goetheanum, the world's anthroposophical centre. Her work is Waldorf inspired, but always intuitively guided.

The offering

The Wildcraft Way

The Wildcraft Way is a place for parents to find comfort through gentle, seasonal practices that bring them closer to nature. It's where Katy has gathered everything you need to begin in small steps towards a deeper connection with the natural world, wherever you live and whatever your experience.

You'll explore the Celtic Wheel of the Year and move through 8 festivals through from Summer Solstice to Bealtainn, which will act as anchors for your family to slow down and learn simple crafts, recipes, herbal remedies, foraging and more. Living seasonally this way is so grounding for both parents and children, and the familiar rhythm can hold you gently throughout the year.

Let me wrap you in myths and folklore, to hold you while you hold your children.
